For parts having intricate 3D contours which can only be defined by building  the shapes in virtual surfaces & creating a closed volume from such surfaces to get 3D solid cad geometry.

Migrating CAD data modeled in one CAD software to another. The original models will be used for non-intrusive reference & form comparison.

For geometries demanding strict control on tangent & curvature continuity & less segmented surfacing the models will need to be built by non-parametric methods based on reference points & curves. This would be required for more stylized geometry , depiction of figures.

Reading 2D/3D profile data from an existing model with the help of a scanner having touch pressure sensitivity or laser scanning & creating 3D models from this data having engineering surface geometry usable for further processes like mould making etc.

In here  the main product assembly is divided into subassemblies having specific functions. The sub-assemblies are constituted of parts or further sub-assemblies. The top level parameters control the main design intent/characteristics desired & any changes there in are propagated to further sub-assemblies & parts thro’ appropriate referencing & relations. This approach also known as Top-down approach is helpful in quick updation of complete assembly on changes in parameters & the updation happens quickly with little or no manual rework in the model. Reusability of such data for any further version of the product is an added advantage.

The solid virtual part models created are assembled with meaningful constraints & even interface type in virtual environment, interferences, clearance, unintentional crossing over of features, mismatch of profiles between mating parts can all be well checked & ensured to be as per designers intent. Motions intended can be animated.
